BISMARCK, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's soccer team fell 5-0 at University of Mary Sunday, October 31 at the MDU Resources Community Bowl in Bismarck, N.D. The Golden Eagles held the Marauders to two goals in the first half, but UMary scored three goals in the final eight minutes of the game.
The Golden Eagles fall to 1-16 (1-13 NSIC) with Sunday's loss. UMary improved to 9-5-3 (8-4-2 NSIC). The Marauders are currently in a tie for fifth in the NSIC standings.
The Golden Eagles finished with three shots, with two shots on goal. Minnesota Crookston was led by
Alyssa Pavlacic (R-Jr., D, St. Charles, Mo.) and
Jacqueline Calderon (So., MF, Indio, Calif.), who each had one shot on goal apiece.
Emma Stempien (Fr., GK, Plymouth, Mich.) allowed five goals, but picked up 10 saves in the game.
The Marauders were guided by six shots, with three shots on goal from Yasmina Dokara. Kayla Alcott finished with two goals, while Kaitlyn Schwass had two goals and an assist.
UMary took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute when Alcott scored off a Maureen Sullivan assist. Alcott struck again in the 10
th minute off an assist from Hannah Richter to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Golden Eagles kept the score at 2-0, until UMary struck again in the 83
rd minute with a goal from Taylor Meyrick off an assist from Schwass. Less than four minutes later, Schwass scored off an assist from Sullivan. The final tally was put in when Schwass scored off a third assist on the day from Sullivan.
Madisyn Waltman had the clean sheet with two saves for the Marauders.
The Golden Eagles will play their final home game of the season Tuesday, November 2 at 1 p.m. against St. Cloud State University. It is a make-up game from an October game postponed due to lightning.
