St. Paul, Minn.—It was a Sunday afternoon matinee for the University of Minnesota Crookston women's basketball team at Concordia-St. Paul. The Golden Eagles led most of the way, but the Golden Bears took a late lead in the closing seconds to hold off the Golden Eagles, 54-53.
The loss for the Golden Eagles drops them to 0-2 on the season, while the Golden Bears improve to 2-0 with the series sweep of the Golden Eagles.

The Golden Bears would lead 11-10 through the first media timeout, but another
Bren Fox jumper would give Minnesota Crookston their lead right back.
Minnesota Crookston would take a five point lead at the end of one, following an
Abby Guidinger (Sr., F, Wausheka, Wis.) buzzer-beating layup.
Minnesota Crookston would go on a 5-0 run at the end of the first half with the help of Fox, Guidinger and
Jes Mertens (Fr., G, Devils Lake, N.D.), to take a 30-24 lead into the half.
Minnesota Crookston would extend their lead to 10, their largest of the game, following a
Mary Burke (R-So., F, Virginia, Minn.) layup, forcing a Golden Bear timeout. CSP would close out the quarter on a 10-2 run to cut the lead to 39-37 heading into the final stanza.
Much of the final quarter would be back-and-forth. The two teams would be tied at 51, but a Golden Bear free throw gave them a 52-51 lead.
Kylie Post (Jr., G, Corcoran, Minn.) would give Minnesota Crookston a one-point lead right back with 49 seconds left, forcing a CSP timeout.
Coming out of the timeout, Lauren Becher would give CSP a 54-53 lead. The Golden Eagles would have two possessions to try and retake the lead, but failed to convert on both opportunities.
Key Stats
Fox led the way with 18 points and 14 rebounds, her first double-double of the season and the third of her career. Post also had her first double-digit scoring output of the season, adding 11 points and eight rebounds. Mertens added seven points, while Guidinger added six.
As a team, the Golden Eagles shot 26 percent from the field, but forced 23 CSP turnovers and forced the Golden Bears to shoot just 20 percent from the three-point line.
The Golden Eagles largest lead was 10 midway through the third quarter. The Golden Eagles led almost 37 minutes of the game.
