SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team fell 4-0 to Augustana University at GreatLIFE Woodlake in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Golden Eagles fall to 0-2 on the 2020 season. Augustana moves to 4-0 with Saturday's victory.
At No. 1 doubles,
Ashley Smith (Sr., Staples, Minn.) and
Latafale Niumeitolu (Fr., Sandy, Utah) fell 6-0 to Taylor Jackson and Anca Rusu. At the No. 2 slot,
Karli Renney (Jr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) and
Samantha Hartung (Fr., Albany, Minn.) were defeated 6-0 by Emily Granson and Rebecca Falkner.
At No. 1 singles, Smith took a game off Grace Goble, but ultimately fell 6-1, 6-0. At the No. 2 spot, Niumeitolu was upended by Granson, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3 singles,
Ashley Chomyn (Fr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) fell 6-0, 6-0 to Falkner.
Minnesota Crookston is set to compete Sun., Feb. 9 at 9 a.m. against University of Sioux Falls.
