Golden Eagles Utilize Overall Team Effort in Dominant 93-50 Exhibition Win over Concordia College

CROOKSTON, Minn.—Minnesota Crookston women's basketball was back in action as they hosted Concordia College for an exhibition on Wednesday Night.
 
Minnesota Crookston used a fast start and the three point shot to defeat Concordia College, 93-50.
 
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a quick start as Bren Fox (So., C, Norwood Young America, Minn.) led the Golden Eagle offense with our first four points of the game, Paige Weakley (Sr., G, Kearney, Mo.) follows up with her first three pointer of the game to go up 7-2.
 
Their next run was 19-0, starting with Mary Burke's (R-Fr., F, Virginia, Minn.) first three pointer in her return from injury. Kylea Praska (So., G, Thief River Falls, Minn.) was lights out in her first action of the 2019 season, burying the first of her three point makes on the night.
 
Julia Peplinski (So., F, Hustisford, Wis.) finishes the first period with two free throws making the score 31-8 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
 
Praska was fouled 20 seconds into the second period, she made the three pointer as she was fouled but falls short on the free throw.
 
Highly touted freshman Emma Carpenter (Fr., G, Eagan, Minn.) had a stretch where she scored six straight points to help build on the Golden Eagles lead,  as the Golden Eagles went in to the locker room with a commanding 32 point lead, 56-24.
 
Coming out of the halftime break, Minnesota Crookston was led by Weakley, who scored nine straight points, all coming way of the three ball.
 
Minnesota Crookston saw a variety of players score in the second half, including freshman Mattea Vetsch (Fr., G, Devils Lake, N.D.), Veronica Schwartz (Fr., G, Parkers Prairie, Minn.) and Alyssa Peterson (Fr., G, Menahga, Minn.) all score their first points in a Golden Eagles uniform.
 
Minnesota Crookston used a number of big runs in the second half to put the Cobbers away, including a 9-0 run right out of the halftime break and an 11-0 run to end the game.
 
The Golden Eagles get one more tune-up in exhibition play with North Dakota State University at the Scheels Center in Fargo, N.D., at 7 p.m.
