Golden Eagles earn tie in NSIC match against UMary

Bismarck, N.D.— The University of Minnesota Crookston's Athena DiMario Done (So. Windsor, Ontario) and the University of Mary's Madisyn Waltmann both put zeroes on the board for their respective squad as the Golden Eagles and the Marauders couldn't muster a goal for a 0-0 draw in NSIC play Friday night in Bismarck.

DiMario Done made six saves on 14 Marauder shots in the match, including four in the first, and one each in the second half, and the first overtime. The draw for DiMario Done sends her individual win-loss record to 1-3-2 on the season.

Waltmann wasn't as busy as the Golden Eagles goalkeeper, but still saw three Minnesota Crookston shots, while making one save on the day. Her win-loss record now sits at 2-5-2.

Jade Smith and Cayle Carlin led UMary with four and three shots a piece, respectively. Lisa Swardh, Megan Lowery, and Caitlin Dooley each finished the match with two shots.

For the Golden Eagles, Vanessa Shelton (So., Tacoma, Wash.), Maggee Hodgdon (Fr. Newberg, Ore.), and Lindsey Daml (Jr., North Pole, Alaska) each had one shot.

The Marauders outshot the Golden Eagles 14-3, and had an advantage in corner kicks as well, 10-1.

Head Coach Joe Alianiello knows it is tough to get a win on the road in the NSIC, and he liked what his team showed this afternoon.

"I thought we battled today," Alianiello said. "It wasn't the prettiest game at times, but the team showed real character on the road to get a point," Alianiello continued.

With the tie, Minnesota Crookston moves to 1-8-2 overall, and 1-5-2 in the NSIC. The Marauders move to 3-5-2 overall and 2-4-2 in NSIC play.

Minnesota Crookston will be back in action Sunday afternoon, as they will make the trek north from Bismarck to Minot, for a date with the Minot State Beavers. That match is set for 1 p.m.
