Augustana Uses Big Hits to Thwart Golden Eagles in Doubleheader

CROOKSTON, Minn. – Augustana University put together clutch hits and thwarted the University of Minnesota Crookston's bats in a doubleheader sweep Sun., April 9 at UMC Baseball Field in Crookston.

The Vikings had 11 runs cross on 16 hits, while Jacob Blank and Derek Dahlke limited Minnesota Crookston to six hits in an 11-0 shutout in game one.
In the second game, Augustana put together a five run inning in the fourth and a seven run inning in the sixth to lift the Vikings to a 16-2 win over the Golden Eagles. In addition, the Augustana pitching staff held Minnesota Crookston to just five hits in game two.

Minnesota Crookston drops to 14-18 (8-12 NSIC) after the two losses. The Golden Eagles are in a tie for 11th place with Winona State University following the weekend. The Golden Eagles took one game from Augustana and sit at 14 wins or more for the third-consecutive season as they look to continue to build the program at U of M Crookston into a consistent competitor.

The Vikings improved to 21-14 (15-5 NSIC) with the wins. They are in a tie for second in the NSIC with St. Cloud State.

Game One
