Sioux Falls, S.D. - Minnesota Crookston sophomore goalkeeper
Olivia Puttin (Rogers, Minn.) continues to backstop her team with much better play as of late but her 12 saves in regulation today was not enough as she was beat by the only shot on goal in extra time in a game that closed with a UM Crookston 1-0 loss.
The University of Sioux Falls outshot the Golden Eagles 34-3 in the NSIC contest but after 90 minutes of play the score was notched at 0-0. The only goal of the conference game came in the fifth minute of overtime when Danielle McClure (Sr., Broomfield, Colo.) finished off a Lindsey Power (Fr., Lindstrom, Minn.) corner kick that was originally deflected by the Crookston defensive effort in front of Puttin.
Senior defender
Maggie Gibbons (Cohasset, Minn.) got the only shot on goal for the Golden Eagles which came off a free kick from 35 yards out. The Cougars keeper, Morgan Perkins (Jr., Liberty, Mo.), just got a glove on the second half shot, knocking it over the cross bar.
Minnesota Crookston will return to action on Friday when they play their final road game of the 2017 season at St. Cloud State University. The NSIC match is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm in St. Cloud.
