CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team's games scheduled for Sat., April 23 and Sun., April 24 to Fri., April 22 and Sat., April 23 due to rain forecasted in Bismarck, N.D. for Sunday.
The games Friday will be played at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. at the University of Mary Baseball Field. Saturday's contests will be played at 12 and 2 p.m. at Municipal Ballpark in Bismarck, N.D.
Minnesota Crookston enters the weekend series with an 18-13 (11-6 NSIC) mark on the season. The Golden Eagles are in a tie for fourth place with Concordia University, St. Paul. UMC is two wins shy of the 20 win mark on the season. The Golden Eagles are hitting .308 as a team.
Ryan Haggstrom (Sr., 1B/RHP, Apple Valley, Minn.) comes into Friday hitting .393 on the season with 33 runs scored, eight doubles and 28 RBI's. Haggstrom was named UMC's Outstanding Athlete of the Year earlier this week for his performance on the ball diamond.
In addition to Haggstrom,
Kenny Perez (Sr., DH/1B, Orlando, Fla.) is batting .391 on the season with 17 runs scored, seven home runs and 34 RBI's.
Colton Haight (Sr., C/OF, Rogers, Minn.) has also been hitting well, as of late. He is up to hitting .347 on the season with 24 runs scored and 16 RBI's.
On the mound, UMC is led by
Nolan Wahlberg (Sr., RHP, Blaine, Minn.), who leads the conference in wins. Wahlberg is 7-1 with a 4.58 ERA in 59 innings pitched. In addition to Wahlberg,
Jarad Nelson (Sr., RHP, Karlstad, Minn.) is 4-1 with a 4.98 ERA in 43.1 innings pitched.
U-Mary is 6-26 on the season and 4-15 in the NSIC. The Marauders are hitting .265 on the season. Tom Imholte leads U-Mary with a .430 batting average with 19 runs scored and eight RBI's on the year. Jason Shaul comes into the weekend with a .406 batting average with 16 runs scored, three home runs and 18 RBI's.
On the bump, U-Mary is led by Jake Johnson, who is 2-2 with a 3.29 ERA in 41 innings pitched. Brad Meyer has also been effective at times with a 1-4 mark and a 4.41 ERA in 34.2 innings pitched.
