Minnesota Crookston Fall 3-0 to No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-6, 25-12, 25-18) to No. 1 Concordia University-St. Paul Fri., Nov. 11 at the Gangelhoff Center in Saint Paul, Minn. Concordia-St. Paul improves to 25-2 (17-2 NSIC). The Golden Bears have been one of the strongest programs in NCAA Division II for the past 10 years winning seven-straight National Championships from 2007-13.

Minnesota Crookston falls to 10-17 (6-13 NSIC) with the loss. The Golden Eagles remain tied for 10th in the NSIC standings.

The Golden Eagles were led by six kills from Maggie Perrel (R-Jr., OH, New Germany, Minn.). They had five kills from Rachel Freund (R-So., OH, Jordan, Minn.), who hit .231 for the match. Kali Erickson (Sr., OH, Fargo, N.D.) chipped in four kills.

Sierra Trost (Sr., S, Ham Lake, Minn.), the program's No. 2 all-time assist leader, finished with 19 assists on the night. The Golden Eagles would finish with 23 kills and 23 errors as they hit .000 for the match.

Concordia-St. Paul would be led by seven kills apiece from Shelby Seurer and Riley Hanson. Seurer hit .308 for the match, while Hanson had a .545 attack percentage. Anna Schlaak also had seven kills, while Emma Lange and Mariya Simpson each had six kills.

The Golden Bears looked to 27 assists from Kasey Williams. She would lead Concordia-St. Paul to 37 kills with seven errors as they hit .390 for the match.

Defensively, Schlaak and Emily McDonough each had 11 digs apiece. On the block, Concordia-St. Paul looked to five block assists from Seurer.

Minnesota Crookston will conclude the 2016 season on the road at Minnesota State University-Mankato Sat., Nov. 12 at 4 p.m. at the Taylor Center.
