Minnesota Crookston Concludes Season with 3-0 Loss to Minnesota State

MANKATO, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-18) to Minnesota State University-Mankato at the Taylor Center in Mankato, Minn. The Golden Eagles wrap up the season with a 10-18 (5-15 NSIC) mark. They finish with over 10 wins for the fifth time in the last six years. Minnesota State finishes with a 16-12 (10-10 NSIC) record.

Minnesota Crookston was led by nine kills apiece from Maggie Perrel (R-Jr., OH, New Germany, Minn.) and Kelci Green (R-Jr., MH, Anoka, Minn.). Kelci Green hit .571 for the match, while Perrel hit .161 for the Golden Eagles.
Kassi Green (R-Jr., OH, Anoka, Minn.) added eight kills and hit .222 for the match.

Sierra Trost (Sr., S, Ham Lake, Minn.) had 30 assists. She helped the Golden Eagles to 24 kills and 12 errors with a .239 hitting percentage. Trost finishes her career as the No. 2 all-time assist leader for the Golden Eagles with 3,623 career assists.

Defensively, Trost led the way with seven digs, while Perrel and Ali Schueler (R-Fr., Lib., Howards Grove, Wis.) each had six digs. 

Minnesota State had a strong match as the Mavericks hit .406 with 47 kills and eight errors. Minnesota State looked to nine kills from Morgan Olson. Jackie Jones, Sarah Kuehn and Sydney Geisness each added eight kills. 

Autumn Risch led the way with 36 assists on the match. Defensively, Minnesota State looked to 16 digs from Maddie Keute, while Rissi McNallan had 10 digs. 

Saturday's match was the final one for Trost, Kali Erickson (Sr., OH, Fargo, N.D.) and Casey Cashman (Sr., DS, Ashland, Wis.). The three players had 45 wins in their four-year careers for the Golden Eagles. 

Minnesota Crookston is set to return 14 players to their roster for the 2017 season. They have also signed four student-athletes thus far for the 2017 class.
