Crookston, Minn.- The Golden Eagle soccer team hosted the Golden Bears of Concordia University, St. Paul for a NSIC match, Saturday afternoon, that would end in a 0-0 draw, earning each team a point in the NSIC standings.
Â
UMC had their best chance of the game, early in the first half, as forward
Lorna McCall (So., Chicago, Ill.) blasted a shot from her left foot that was on the mark but the Golden Bears keeper Emily Nelson (So., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) made a great diving save to her left. A few minutes later, UMC keeper
Lexie Gauger (Sr., Green Bay, Wis./Criminal Justice) stopped one of two great CSP opportunities as Gauger left her net, in a heads up play, to stop a break away opportunity. Gauger again came up big in the 57
th minute as she stopped a shot point blank, then her defense blocked two more close up shots off the pair of rebounds.
Â
The final scoring opportunity of the game came in the last minute of regulation play as the Golden Bears were given a free kick from just outside the box. The ensuing shot went over the UMC goal, knotting things up at 0-0 through two periods. Neither team had any great scoring opportunities through the two ten-minute overtime periods where Concordia out shot UMC 2-1 in the bonus play. Gauger made the only save of overtime.

The Golden Eagles (2-6-1, 1-4-1) will return to the pitch in Crookston tomorrow afternoon as they host the Mavericks of Minnesota State University Mankato (4-3-1, 3-3) at noon. The Mavericks dropped their Saturday game, 3-1, to Bemidji State University.
