CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston volleyball team upended Minot State University 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-23) Saturday in Minot, N.D. The Golden Eagles bounce back after losing two straight to improve to 6-7 (2-3 NSIC). Minot State falls to 3-9 (0-5 NSIC). The Beavers are in their first season under Head Coach Ben Kaszeta.

The Golden Eagles had a balanced attack on the day led by Maggie Perrel (R-So., RS, New Germany, Minn.), who finished with 10 kills. Kelci Green (R-So., MH, Anoka, Minn.) had eight kills and hit .667 for the match with two solo blocks and two block assists. Stephanie Pearson (Sr., OH, Frankfort, Ill.) had seven kills.

Minnesota Crookston setter Sierra Trost (Jr., S, Ham Lake, Minn. had 30 assists on the day as the Golden Eagles hit .261 with just 14 errors on 92 attacks.

Defensively, Trost was also strong with 10 digs, one solo block and three block assists. Trost led the defense for the afternoon. Casey Cashman (Jr., Lib., Ashland, Wis.) added nine digs.

Minot State was led by seven kills from Taylor Butters and Shaunessy Dauwalder. Tarah Dabovich and Mallory Sall each added six kills apiece. The Beavers were held to a .074 hitting percentage on the day with 27 errors on 108 attacks.

At setter, Kelsey Dewulf led the way with 30 assists.

Defensively, Logan Desorcy paced the Beavers with 12 digs, while Dauwalder and Dabovich each had three block assists.

The Golden Eagles will return to play as they face Northern State University at home Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. They will then take on Minnesota State University Moorhead Oct. 3 at 4 p.m.
