Lucas Reller (Sr., G, Lead, S.D./Management) and women's basketball player
Alexa Thielman (Jr., G, Buffalo, Minn./Health Science) have been named UMC Teambackers Student-Athletes of the Week for the seven-day period from Jan. 29 - Feb. 4.
Reller is a first-time honoree, while the Golden Eagle basketball team has received eight honors so far this season. Thielman has been named UMC Teambackers Female Student-Athlete of the Week six times this season.
Thielman averaged 19.5 points per game for the Golden Eagles as they picked up a split on the weekend with a win over Upper Iowa University Friday and a loss to Winona State University Saturday. Thielman was 15-of-26 for 57.7 percent from the field on the weekend and 6-of-13 for 46.2 percent from beyond the arc.
Thielman tallied 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field and 2-of-6 from beyond the arc in a win over Upper Iowa Friday. Saturday, Thielman tallied 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Thielman is averaging 16.9 points per game on the season.
Reller averaged 9.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the Golden Eagles in losses to Upper Iowa University and Winona State University. Reller, a defensive stopper for the Golden Eagles performed well on defense in both games but had his best offensive game of the season against Upper Iowa. Reller had 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc with six rebounds and one steal in 37 minutes of play. Against Winona State, Reller had three points, one steal and one rebound.
