No. 2 Augustana Takes Down Golden Eagles 92-60

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston fell 92-60 Saturday to No. 2 Augustana University as the Vikings showed why they were ranked where they were, dominating the Golden Eagles from the get-go. The Vikings were led by the play of 2014-15 NSIC Player of the Year Daniel Jansen, who had a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds on 8-of-15 shooting from the field. In addition to Jansen, Augustana had three other players score in double figures.

The Golden Eagles pick up the split on the weekend as they beat Wayne State College (Neb.) Friday. UMC is now 3-6 (1-4 NSIC), while Augustana moves to 8-1 (5-0 NSIC).

UMC was led by the play of C.J. Polk (So., G, Milwaukee, Wis./Sports and Rec Management), who finished a strong weekend with 20 points on 8-of-17 from the field. Polk averaged 18 points per game on the weekend for UMC. Kobe Critchley (Fr., G, Roseville, Minn./Health Science) added nine points and had three assists. Ben Grygiel (Jr., F, Rockford, Ill./Business Management) added eight points, while Xavier Hall (Jr., G, Woodbury, Minn./Sports and Rec Management) had seven points.

In addition to Jansen, Casey Schilling had 15 points and five boards, while Adam Beyer had 13 and Alex Richter added 12. The Vikings are a very experienced team with most of their roster returning from last season's squad that went to the NCAA Tournament. Augustana had 17 assists to just seven turnovers on the day led by six from Jordan Spencer.

They shot 35-of-66 for 53.0 percent and were phenomenal from beyond the arc, connecting on 13-of-26 for 50 percent. The Vikings out-rebounded the Golden Eagles 45-34 with 13 offensive rebounds on the night.

UMC will look to rebound after the loss as they head to BSU Gymnasium Dec. 18 for a rematch with Bemidji State University. The Golden Eagles lost a close one 62-58 at Lysaker Gymnasium Nov. 28 and will look to go into the 2016 calendar year on a winning note.
