The Golden Eagles will host the Golden Bears at 6 p.m., Fri., Jan. 16 and the Mavericks at 4 p.m., Sat. Jan. 17.
The UMC women's basketball team has opened the 2015 portion of their schedule with a 3-1 record. The Golden Eagles are 6-8 (5-5 NSIC) coming into the weekend. The Golden Eagles have been guided in recent weeks by the play of
Alexa Thielman, who is averaging 22.3 points per game over the last four games, as she has tallied four-straight 20 point performances for UMC. Thielman is shooting 46.2 percent from the field over the last four games and 48.1 percent from beyond the arc. In addition to Thielman, forward
Katrina Moenkedick comes in averaging 14.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, while center
Emily Gruber, a freshman, is averaging 9.6 points and 5.0 rebounds.
Concordia University-St. Paul is 8-7 (4-5 NSIC) as they enter the weekend. The Golden Bears are coming off road losses to Augustana College (S.D.) and Wayne State (Neb.). Concordia is led by 6-2 forward Anika Whiting, who is averaging 15.3 points and 7.7 rebounds on the year. In addition to Whiting, guard Ameshia Kearney is averaging 12.8 points per game, while guard Mishayla Jones is averaging 12.2 points per game.
Minnesota State comes into the weekend with a 10-4 (7-2 NSIC) mark. The Mavericks are led by 6-2 forward Lexie Ulfers, who is averaging 12.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. In addition to Ulfers, Sammie Delzotto comes in averaging 11.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, while Aubrey Davis is averaging 11.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
