CROOKSTON, Minn.- The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team will take on St. Cloud State University Wed., April 9 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Cobber Baseball Field at the Jake Christiansen Stadium and Athletic Complex on the campus of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.

The game was moved from UMC Baseball Field, which still is not in playing condition as the Red River Valley continues to thaw after over a foot of snow fell on the area just over a week ago. The Golden Eagles are hopeful the field will be ready soon, but were forced to move to Cobber Baseball Field, which has a turf infield.

The Golden Eagles are currently 1-23 (0-12 NSIC) heading into Wednesday's doubleheader against the Huskies. UMC is coming off a series sweep by Northern State University Sunday and Monday in Redfield, S.D.

Minnesota Crookston has been led at the plate by Ryan Haggstrom (So., C/1B/P, Apple Valley, Minn./Accounting), who is off to one of the best starts of any UMC hitter in recent history. Haggstrom is hitting .389 with 15 runs scored, four doubles and 12 RBI's. In addition to Haggstrom, UMC has also gotten a solid freshman season from outfielder Patrick Higgins (Eagan, Minn./Criminal Justice), who is batting .284 with 13 runs scored and three RBI's.

On the mound, UMC's top pitcher this season has been Ryan Paasch (Sr., P, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sports and Rec Management) out of the bullpen. Paasch is 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in 14.2 innings pitched. The Golden Eagles' stop starter has been Richie Navratil (Sr., P, Blansko, Czech Republic/Sports and Rec Management), who is 0-6 with a 7.75 ERA in 38.1 innings pitched.

St. Cloud State enters Wednesday's game with a 19-6 (8-3 NSIC) mark. The Huskies went 3-1 against Minot State University last weekend. St. Cloud State has been led this season by Garrett Fischer, who is batting .433 with 26 runs scored and 16 RBI's. In addition to Fischer, Eric Loxtercamp comes in hitting .393 with 31 runs scored and 22 RBI's.

On the mound, the Huskies have been led by Reese Gregory, who is 6-1 with a 0.67 ERA in 27 innings pitched. In addition, Corey Fitzgerald is 4-0 with a 2.19 ERA in 37 innings pitched.
