UMC Mid-Week Road Series Against Minot State Pushed Back to Thursday

CROOKSTON, Minn.- The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team's games against Minot State University have been pushed back to Thurs., May 1 at 12 and 2 p.m. due to rain that hit the area on Tuesday. The games were originally scheduled to be played Wed., April 30 in Minot, N.D. This has also moved back UMC's home finale against University of Minnesota Duluth. The Golden Eagles and Bulldogs will now play Sat., May 3 and Sun., May 4 with the games Saturday being played at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., and games Sunday at 12 and 2 p.m. Saturday's games will also serve as Senior Day for Minnesota Crookston.

The Golden Eagles are still seeking their first conference victory of the season. They are 1-41 (0-30 NSIC) coming into this week's games. Minnesota Crookston came close last week as they lost three one-run games, but were unable to get over the hump in games against Bemidji State University and Southwest Minnesota State University.

Minnesota Crookston has been led this season by Ryan Haggstrom (So., C/1B/P, Apple Valley, Minn.), who is eight hits away from tying the single-season school record for the Golden Eagles. Haggstrom is batting .359 with 22 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples and 18 RBI's, In addition to Haggstrom, Patrick Higgins (Fr., OF, Eagan, Minn./Criminal Justice) comes in hitting .250 with 15 runs scored and eight RBI's.

UMC was led in their mid-week against Bemidji State last week by the pitching of Cody Pamperin (Fr., P, Shakopee, Minn./Golf and Turf Management), who pitched a complete game in his first start for the Golden Eagles. Pamperin is 0-1 with a 7.09 ERA in 33 innings pitched this season.

Minot State owns a 15-21 (9-13 NSIC) mark heading into Thursday's games. The Beavers are coming off a series sweep of University of Mary. Minot State has been led at the plate by Sean Arbaut, who is hitting .330 with 16 runs scored and 17 RBI's. Conner Oliver comes in with a .322 batting average, 21 runs scored and 20 RBI's.

On the mound, Minot State's mid-week starters last week were Oliver and Jesse Goertzen. Oliver is 0-1 with a 12.86 ERA this season in seven innings pitched. Goertzen is 3-4 with a 6.27 ERA in 37.1 innngs pitched for the Beavers this season.
