UMC Baseball Set For Mid-Week Series Against Bemidji State Tuesday

CROOKSTON, Minn.- The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team will head to Bemidji, Minn. for a two-game series against Bemidji State University Tues., April 22 at 3 and 5 p.m. The games were originally slated for Wed., April 23, but were moved up due to a high probability of rain Wednesday in both Bemidji and Crookston, Minn.

The Golden Eagles come into Tuesday with a 1-35 (0-24 NSIC) record overall. Minnesota Crookston had one of their strongest pitching performances last Friday as Richie Navratil (Sr., P, Blansko, Czech Republic/Sports and Rec Management) went nine innings, allowing just three earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts. In addition, Matt Korte (Sr., 3B/P, St. Cloud, Minn./Accounting) had a strong outing, pitching seven innings and allowing three earned runs on six hits.

Minnesota Crookston continues to be led at the plate by Ryan Haggstrom (So., C/1B/P, Apple Valley, Minn./Accounting), who is batting .331 with 17 runs scored, six triples and 13 RBI's.

Bemidji State comes into the weekend with a 16-15 (10-8 NSIC) record. The Beavers have been led by Tyler Nelson, who is hitting .356 with 29 runs scored and five RBI's. In addition to Nelson, Joey Hanowski comes in hitting .351 with 20 runs scored and 18 RBI's.

On the mound, UMC's weekday starters last week were Terry Hadden and Derek Masberg. Hadden is 3-2 with a 5.40 ERA in 35 innings this season. Masberg owns a 1-2 mark and a 7.82 ERA in 12.2 innings this season.
