Box Score SEATTLE, Wash. – The University of Minnesota Crookston fell 90-38 to No. 22 Seattle Pacific at the Brougham Pavilion in Seattle, Wash. The Golden Eagles went 0-2 overall at the Sodexo Tip-off Classic. Seattle Pacific moves to 1-1 with Saturday's win.
The Golden Eagles were led on the game by six points from
Derrick Redd, Jr. (Jr., G, Menifee, Calif./Sports and Rec Management) and
Giorgi Koguashvili (Sr., G, Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia/Agricultural Business).
Jim Warmack (Fr., F/C, East Grand Forks, Minn.) added five.
UMC shot 12-of-44 from the field for 27.3percent and were 3-of-15 from beyond the arc for 20.0 percent.
Seattle Pacific was 33-of-55 for the game for 60.0 percent and shot 7-of-15 from beyond the arc for 46.7 percent. The Falcons looked to 21 points from Cory Hutsen. Matt Borton added 15 points and had seven rebounds, while Mitch Penner came off the bench for 14.
Seattle Pacific would get out to a 16-3 lead after going on a 16-0 run following a Redd try to open the game for UMC. The Falcons would be led by five points off the bench by Penner. Larson would squash the run with a three at the 13:40 mark to the cut the deficit to 16-6 in favor of the Falcons. Seattle Pacific would extend their lead to 25-10. The Falcons would go up 40-18 on a lay-in by Borton with a minute remaining in the first half and would lead 43-20 going into the break.
The Golden Eagles were led by Redd, who had six points on 2-of-4 shooting from the field. He was 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Koguashvili added four points on 2-of-2 shooting off of the bench.
UMC shot 6-of-20 from the field for 30.0 percent. The Golden Eagles were 3-of-8 for 37.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Seattle Pacific looked to Hutsen for 15 points in the first half on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. Penner came off the bench for 10 poionts on 4-of-4 shooting. The Falcons were 17-of-28 from the field for 60.7 percent from the field and 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Seattle Pacific would use back-to-back threes from Swanson and Bryce Leavitt to jump out to a 51-20 advantage with 17:36 left in the second half. The Falcons would continue to build their lead led by a 15-0 run to begin the second half and they wouldn't look back as they won 90-38 after out-scoring UMC 47-18 in the second half.
