CROOKSTON, Minn.- The Golden Eagle soccer team played their second home game of the weekend, Sunday afternoon, where they knocked off Northern State University, 1-0, in NSIC play. With the conference win, the UMC squad improves their overall record to 6-5-3, 5-4-2 in NSIC play.

UMC had the better scoring opportunities in the match but the two teams finished with six shots a piece. The only goal came in the 19
th minute of play when
Rachelle Alcini (Ann Arbor, Mich./Health Sciences) and
Miranda Mosher (Fr., Watertown, Minn.) hooked up for the second straight day. Alcini's long pass in led to her fourth assist of the 2014 campaign, while Mosher's tip over the Wolves keeper was her fourth goal of the season, good enough for second on the team.

Sophomore keeper,
Lexie Gauger (Green Bay, Wisc./Criminal Justice) earned the shutout in net where she made two total saves, both of which she handled with ease.

The Golden Eagles will play another home set next weekend as they host Upper Iowa University on Friday and Winona State University on Sunday. Both NSIC games will be played on the UMC campus in Crookston.Â
