UMC Soccer Wins Third Straight with 3-1 Victory Over Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston soccer team won their third-straight game as they picked up a 3-1 win on the road over the University of Sioux Falls Saturday in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Golden Eagles move to 5-3-3 (4-2-2 NSIC) with Saturday's win. Their five wins are the most since the 2007 season for the UMC soccer program. The three-straight wins marks the first time since 2002 that UMC has won three or more straight games. Sioux Falls drops to 1-9-1 (1-7-0) with the loss.

The Golden Eagles started the scoring as Molly Buck (So., D, Lakeville, Minn.) came forward from her defensive position to score her first career goal at the 11:14 mark off an assist on a through ball from Beth Lastovich (Fr., MF/F, White Bear Lake, Minn./Health Science).

UMC would go ahead 2-0 later in the first half as Courtney Armborst (Jr., F, West St. Paul, Minn./Biology) scored her eighth goal of the year on a shot from the right corner of the box.

Sioux Falls would cut the advantage to 2-1 at the 33:45 mark as Tionne Webb scored off an assist from Ciara Howerton.

The Golden Eagles would ice their win 3-1 at the 71:39 mark as Elizabeth Busch (Jr., MF, Sioux Falls, S.D.) headed in an assist off Rachelle Alcini's (Sr., D, Ann Arbor, Mich./Health Science) free kick.

Lexie Gauger (So., GK, Green Bay, Wis./Criminal Justice) picked up the win in net after making four saves and allowing one goal. Armborst led the team with three shots, while Lastovich led the squad with two shots on goal.

Sioux Falls had just nine shots overall on the game led by two shots on goal from Howerton. Jordin Crosby picked up the loss with three goals allowed and three saves.

The Golden Eagles will take on Southwest Minnesota State University at 1 p.m. Sun., Oct. 12 in Marshall, Minn.
