CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team will host University of Minnesota Duluth in a pair of doubleheaders April 27 and 28 at the UMC Baseball Field in Crookston, Minn. The Golden Eagles will face the Bulldogs at 1 and 3 p.m. Sat., April 27 and 12 and 2 p.m. Sun., April 28. Sunday will serve as the team's “Senior Day” for a quartet of seniors including; J.C. Crane (C/OF/P, Tucson, Ariz.), Cesar Espinosa (1B, Tucson, Ariz.), Jordan Prill (Sr., 1B/OF/P, Melrose, Minn.) and Adrian Romo (Sr., P, Douglas, Ariz.). In addition, University of Minnesota Crookston chancellor Fred Wood will throw out the first pitch of the doubleheader.
 
The games will serve as the second and third set of home dates for the Golden Eagles respectively as UMC's games versus Bemidji State University Thursday were the team's first at home after playing their previous 31 games on the road or at neutral sites.
 
UMC is coming off a pair of losses to Bemidji State University Thursday as the Beavers fell 18-0 and 6-1. The Golden Eagles were up early on against the Beavers after a strong pitching performance from Richie Navratil (So., P, Blansko, Czech Republic) but BSU got the late win over UMC.
 
UMC is 0-33 on the year and 0-15 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles have been led at the plate this season by second baseman Josh Brehmer (Jr., Roseville, Minn.), who is batting .270 with five runs scored and five RBI's. Prill comes in batting .239 with eight runs scored and four RBI's.
 
On the mound, the Golden Eagles top innings getter has been Matt Korte (Jr., IF/OF/P, St. Cloud, Minn.) with 29.2 innings pitched, a 0-7 mark and a 9.10 ERA.
 
The University of Minnesota Duluth comes in with an 8-20 (8-7 NSIC) mark on the season and is coming off a pair of wins over Upper Iowa University Wed., April 24. The Bulldogs have been led this season by Jimmy Heck, who is batting .424 with 14 runs scored and 11 RBI's on the season. Alex Wojciechowski comes in batting .392 with 24 runs scored and 24 RBI's. On the mound, UMD has been led by Kyle Fritz, who is 1-2 with a 4.37 ERA on the season.
