CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team will play St. Cloud State University at 6:30 and 8:30 a.m. Tues., April 2 at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn. The games were originally scheduled for April 3 in St. Cloud, Minn., but were moved due to field conditions in St. Cloud, Minn. The Golden Eagles are 0-21 (0-8 NSIC) so far this season while St. Cloud State is 15-2 (4-0 NSIC).
The Golden Eagles are led at the plate by
Josh Brehmer (Jr., 2B/SS, Roseville, Minn.), who is batting .242 with one run scored and two runs batted in.
Ryan Haggstrom (Fr., P/UT, Apple Valley, Minn.), comes in hitting .227 with one run scored and one run batted in while
Kameron Crandall (R-Fr., IF/OF, Zimmerman, Minn.) is hitting .218 with three runs scored and seven RBI's.
On the mound, UMC has been led this season by starter
Matt Korte (Jr., IF/OF/P). The St. Cloud native has a 5.70 earned runs average in 23.2 innings pitched. The Golden Eagles have also gotten solid work from a pair of players who have worked as relievers so far this season. Haggstrom is 0-0 with a 2.35 ERA in 7.2 innings while
Brooks Miller (So., IF/OF/P, Moorhead, Minn.) had a strong relief outing Saturday and is now 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA in six innings pitched this season.
St. Cloud State comes into Tuesday being led at the plate by senior second baseman Steve Rindelaub, who is batting .381 with 11 runs scored and 10 RBI's. In addition to Rindelaub, Eric Loxtercamp is batting .362 with 12 runs scored and 14 RBI's. On the mound, the Huskies have been led by Chris Kubitz, who is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 19.2 innings pitched. He is joined by Scott Lieser, who is 5-1 with a 2.01 ERA in 31.1 innings pitched and Kyle Fischer, who is 5-1 with a 2.38 ERA in 34 innings pitched.
