BISMARCK, N.D. –
The University of Mary raced out of the gates to a quick lead over the University of Minnesota, Crookston women's basketball team en route to an 80-56 win over the Golden Eagles Friday at McDowell Activity Center in Bismarck, N.D. U-Mary used hot shooting and 13 made threes to take down the Golden Eagles. In addition, Marauder point guard Ali Collins tallied a rare triple-double on the game. UMC falls to 7-16 (4-15 NSIC) while the Marauders improve to 16-9 (11-8 NSIC).

The Golden Eagles were led by Katrina Moenkedick (Fr., F, Perham, Minn.), who tallied her first-ever double-double at UMC with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Brittani Wiese (Sr., G, Albertville, Minn.) added 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting for the game while Alexa Thielman (Fr., G, Buffalo, Minn.) came off the bench for eight points with two made three-pointers.

Collins paced the team with her triple-double of 10 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the way for the Marauder squad. Collins led the veteran group of U-Mary players to victory, which included three other players who tallied double figures on the game. Shaunna Knife added 16 points and six rebounds while Brittney Dietz came off the bench for 16 points and five rebounds. Taylor Luke rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points and 3 three-pointers. Kelsey Peltier added nine points on 3 three-pointers.  The Marauders finished the game shooting 30-of-67 from the field and 44.8 percent and were 13-of-31 for 41.9 percent from trey. U-Mary out-rebounded UMC 55-43 on the game led by Collins' 15  boards.

After taking a quick 3-0 lead on the game, UMC quickly fell behind as the Marauders used a 22-0 run to take a 22-3 lead with 12:25 remaining in the first half. The outburst was led by seven points from Knife and six from Dietz. The Golden Eagles were able to cut what was a 19-point Marauder advantage to 13 at the 9:39 mark after a Cienna Walker (So., G, Ajax, Ontario) lay-up to make it 24-11. However, U-Mary was able to get their lead back out to 19 later on in the half and went in with a 45-30 advantage at the half.

The second half story was much the same as U-Mary was able to get out to a 24-point lead at the 9:59 mark following a Laura Petersen trey. The Marauders even further extended their lead to as much as 33 points after a Maddie Frederick three with 3:59 remaining. U-Mary would finish the game with an 80-56 win.

The Golden Eagles will head to Minot State University for a 4 p.m. game against the Beavers tomorrow in Minot, N.D. for their final regular-season road game of the 2012-13 season.
