• Wiese Climbing All-Time Scoring Charts
2011-12 All-NSIC Second Team pick Brittani Wiese has had a great first three years at UMC despite missing the end of last season due to a knee injury. The senior guard leads team in scoring averaging 12.0 points per game.
Wiese became the seventh player in program history to eclipse 1,000 points Dec. 15 against University of Mary with friend and UMC all-time leading scorer Jamie Zelinsky on the opposing bench as an assistant coach.
Wiese now has 1,062 points in her career, which is fifth all-time at UMC. Wiese surpassed Jess Forsline to secure the fifth position. Wiese needs 28 points to move past Steph Mayclin in fourth place and 182 to move past Kari Score in third place.
•Tyson Sets Career Rebounding Record
Senior Center Laurie Tyson has been a force on the boards for her four seasons at UMC. Tyson's 10 rebounds against MSU Moorhead Jan. 4 moved her into a tie with Kari Score for the rebounding record which she officially broke with her first rebound of the game against Northern State Jan. 5. Tyson is currently averaging 7.9 rebounds per game during her senior campaign. Tyson has accumulated 600 rebounds in her four seasons as a Golden Eagle.
• Moenkedick Slowly Becoming Force for UMC
Katrina Moenkedick has slowly been making more and more of an impact in the post for the Golden Eagles as the season has progressed for the freshman from Perham, Minn. Moenkedick had a great outing last Friday as she led the team with a season-high 20 points in a near upset of No. 22 Wayne State College. Moenkedick enters the weekend averaging 9.1 points per game, which is third on the team. Moenkedick had nine points and six boards against Bemidji State Tuesday.
• Need to Hit More Free Throws
The Golden Eagles have to become more efficient at hitting their free throws as it has proved costly down the stretch in several close games so far this season. UMC shot only 61.9 percent on 21 attempts Tuesday against Bemidji State. They are shooting 62.5 percent from the charity stripe on the season.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston women's basketball team will look to get back on a winning track as they head on the road to Upper Iowa University Friday and Winona State University Saturday.
Previewing the Golden Eagles
Women
The Golden Eagles enter the weekend with a 5-9 (2-8 NSIC) mark and are currently on a three-game losing streak after picking up a victory on the road over Northern State University Jan. 5.
UMC has been led on the season by Brittani Wiese (Sr., G, Albertville, Minn.), who is averaging 12.0 points per game and is also shooting 32.5 percent from beyond the arc. Wiese has struggled of late and is looking to get back on track against the Peacocks and Warriors. Sophomore guard Ashley Martell (Somerset, Wis.) comes in averaging 9.6 points per game and is shooting 36.6 percent from beyond the arc. Freshman forward Katrina Moenkedick (Perham, Minn.) has come on as of late and is averaging 9.6 points per game. Moenkedick had a season-high 20 points in a near-upset of No. 22 Wayne State College last Friday. Moenkedick comes in shooting 48.1 percent from the field.
Laurie Tyson leads the Golden Eagles on the boards with 7.9 rebounds per game. Tyson is all-time rebounding leader in UMC history, accomplishing milestone earlier this month. The Golden Eagles are being out-rebounded on the year 41.1 to 39.6. UMC comes into the weekend shooting 37.6 percent from the field and 30.2 percent from beyond the arc. They have struggled at the charity stripe, which showed against Bemidji State Tuesday, shooting 62.5 percent. UMC is averaging 63.8 points per game this year and giving up 66.7 per game.
Previewing The Peacocks
Women
The Upper Iowa University Peacocks enter the weekend with a 4-13 (1-9 NSIC) mark and are currently tied with Southwest Minnesota State University in seventh place in the NSIC South Division. The Peacocks are in their third season under head coach Carol Russell.
The Peacocks have been led in nearly all facets of the game by 5-9 sophomore guard Whitney Kieffer, who comes into the weekend averaging 18.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Freshman Forward Carly Pagel comes in averaging 11.2 points and 6.5 rebounds. Upper Iowa is shooting 37.6 percent from the field as a team and 31.4 percent from beyond the arc. Five Peacock players are shooting over 30.0 percent from beyond the arc led by Lindsay Carroll's 42.9 percent. Upper Iowa is being out-rebounded 37.2 to 36.4 his season and come in averaging 64.3 points per game to their opponents' 72.9 points per game.
Previewing The Warriors
Women
Winona State comes into the weekend with a 12-5 (6-4 NSIC) record. The Warriors are coming off a 70-61 win over Upper Iowa last weekend after dropping a pair to University of Mary and Minot State University last weekend. The Warriors have three players averaging double-figure scoring on the season led by guard Becca Friestleben's 16.2 points per game. Guard Katie Wolff (12.3 ppg) and center Michelle Tobin (10.0 ppg) are also averaging double figures on the season. The Warriors come is as a very strong team shooting the basketball as they boast a field goal percentage of 42.0 and a 40.5 three-point percentage. The Warriors have two players shooting over 40 percent from beyond the arc led by Friestleben's 44.7 percent. Wolff comes in shooting 42.4 percent from three-point land.
The Warriors are out-rebounding teams 35.6 to 34.4 paced by Tobin's 8.8 rebounds per game. They are averaging 68.1 points and are giving up 53.2 points per game defensively.
