Quick Hits
• Wiese Joins 1,000-Point Club
2011-12 All-NSIC Second Team pick Brittani Wiese has had a great first three years at UMC despite missing the end of last season due to a knee injury. The senior guard leads team in scoring averaging 12.2 points per game.
Wiese became the seventh player in program history to eclipse 1,000 points Dec. 15 against University of Mary with friend and UMC all-time leading scorer Jamie Zelinsky on the
opposing bench as an assistant coach.
Wiese now has 1,055 points in her career, which is tied fourth all-time at UMC. Wiese surpassed Jess Forsline to secure the fourth position. Wiese needs 35 points to move past Steph Mayclin in fourth place and 189 to move past Kari Score in third place.
• Tyson Sets Career Rebounding Record
Senior Center Laurie Tyson has been a force on the boards for her four seasons at UMC. Tyson's 10 rebounds against MSU Moorhead Jan. 4 moved her into a tie with Kari Score for the rebounding record which she officially broke with her first rebound of the game against Northern State Jan. 5. Tyson is currently averaging 7.9 rebounds per game during her senior campaign. Tyson has accumulated 593 rebounds in her four seasons as a Golden Eagle.
• Moenkedick Slowly Becoming Force for UMC
Katrina Moenkedick has slowly been making more and more of an impact in the post for the Golden Eagles as the season has progressed for the freshman from Perham, Minn. Moenkedick had a great outing Friday as she led the team with a season-high 20 points in a near upset of No. 22 Wayne State College. Moenkedick enters Tuesday's game averaging 9.2 points per game, which is third on the team.
• Bemidji State/UMC Connections
Bemidji State and UMC have several connections on the staffs. Golden Eagle coach Mike Roysland is a Hall of Famer after playing at BSU while BSU head coach Mike Curfman coached UMC prior to making the move down high way 2 to Bemidji eight years ago. In addition, BSU assistant coach Mark Bagaason is a Hall of Famer at UMC after
playing two years when UMC was a junior college.

Previewing the Golden Eagles
Women
The UMC women's basketball team fell in a narrow loss to No. 22 Wayne State College (59-57) on a last-second shot and fell 93-57 to Augustana College to go 0-2 last weekend. The Golden Eagles are currently 5-8 (2-7 NSIC).
The Golden Eagles continue to be led on the season by senior guard Brittani Wiese (Albertville, Minn.), who has moved past Jess Forsline on the all-time scoring charts and into fourth place at UMC. Wiese comes in averaging 12.4 points per game. Ashley Martell (So., G, Somerset, Wis.) has also put together a solid sophomore campaign as she enters the weekend shooting 37.5 percent from beyond the arc and is averaging 9.5 points per game. In addition, freshman Katrina Moenkedick (F, Perham, Minn.) has been a key player in recent games as the newcomer has found a groove and is averaging 9.2 points a game. She is coming off a season-high 20-point performance versus No. 22 Wayne State Friday.
Previewing The Beavers
Women
The Bemidji State University women's basketball team currently has a 6-7 (2-7 NSIC) mark and are tied with UMC for seventh place in the North Division. Augustana upended BSU 92-44 while Wayne State took down Bemidji State 89-68.
BSU has been led on the season by Morgan Lee, a junior sharp-shooter who is averaging 13.3 points per game and is shooting 36.8 percent from beyond the arc. Lee is the daughter of BSU's all-time leading men's basketball scorer David Lee. In addition to Lee, the Beavers have been aided by junior college transfer Lanae Rash, a versatile guard who is averaging 12.7 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per contest. Junior center Kate Warmack, who comes from right down the road in East Grand Forks, is also averaging double-figure scoring with 11.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this season.
