Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston split a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) doubleheader with Augustana College today at the UMC Baseball Field. The Vikings took game one 13-3. The Golden Eagles took the nightcap 2-0.

U of M, Crookston now has an overall record of 8-15 and NSIC record of 3-7. Augustana College is now 13-10 overall and 8-4 in the NSIC. The two teams conclude their series with another doubleheader tomorrow starting at 12 p.m.

Game One Recap

The Vikings blew open a close game with four runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh to win 13-3. Augustana took a 5-0 lead after two innings but U of M, Crookston closed the gap to 5-3 with two runs in the third and one in the fourth before the Vikings put the game out of reach. Ben Heairit threw a complete game allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out nine and walking one to get the win. Jake Kurth had two hits and four RBI including a three-run homerun. David Borchardt had two hits, including a two-run home run and a double, two runs batted in (RBI) and two runs scored. Jack Goihl had two hits, including a solo homerun, and two RBI. Brian Knight added two hits and two RBI. J.C. Crane (Jr, C, Tucson, Ariz.) had two hits for U of M, Crookston.

Game Two Recap

U of M, Crookston's Nick Kelzer (So, RHP, Delano, Minn.) outdueled Augustana's Casey Jacobson as the Golden Eagles took the nightcap 2-0. Kelzer threw eight innings allowing no runs on five hits while striking out four and walking none to get the win. Joe Miller (Fr, RHP, Winona, Minn.) pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth to get his third save of the year. Crane, Josh Brehmer (So, 2B, Roseville, Minn.), Jordan Osmudson (Fr, OF, East Grand Forks, Minn.), Jordan Prill (Jr, 1B, Melrose, Minn.), Charlie Pelzer (So, SS, Roseville, Minn.) and J.M. Habeck (Sr, OF, Winnipeg, Man.) all had hits for the Golden Eagles. P.J. Zwach (Sr, C, St. Paul, Minn.) drove in the winning run on a safety squeeze in the bottom of the seventh. Jacobson allowed two runs on six hits while striking out nine for Augustana. Nate Hewes had two hits for the Vikings.
