Box Score 2 (Crookston, Minn.)- Sixth ranked Minnesota State University (MSU) swept a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Baseball doubleheader from the University of Minnesota, Crookston today in Mankato, Minn. The Mavericks took game one 5-1 before winning the nightcap 11-1 in seven innings.
MSU improves to 31-7 overall and 19-3 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles fall to 10-30 overall and 4-22 in the NSIC. U of M, Crookston returns to NSIC action on Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29 when they travel to St. Cloud State University to face the Huskies in a four-game series at Joe Faber Field. Doubleheaders begin at 2 p.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.
Game One Recap
Jason Hoppe limited the Golden Eagles to one run on seven hits as MSU won 5-1. Hoppe threw 6.1 innings striking out six and walking one to get the win. Lucas Skjefte, Patrick Dockendorf, Jeremy Sudbeck and Matt Eckhart each had two hits. Dockendorf had two runs batted in (RBI).
Joe Miller (Fr, RHP, Winona, Minn.) threw well for U of M, Crookston allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out one and walking four.
P.J. Zwach (Sr, 3B, St. Paul, Minn.) and
J.M. Habeck (Sr, OF, Winnipeg, Man.) each had two hits.
Game Two Recap
The Mavericks scored in every inning except the fifth as they won 11-1 in seven innings. Ben Kincaid had three hits and Conner McCallum added two for MSU. T.J. Larson threw six innings allowing one run on three hits while striking out two and walking one to get the win.
Jeremy Welle (Fr, OF, Becker, Minn.) had two hits for the Golden Eagles.
