Box Score 2 (Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) swept a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Baseball doubleheader from the University of Minnesota, Crookston today at the UMC Baseball Field. The Bulldogs took game won 9-0 and the nightcap 10-3. UMD improves to 15-20 overall and 8-13 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles fall to 8-27 overall and 3-19 in the NSIC.
U of M, Crookston closes out the home portion of their schedule on Monday, April 23 with another doubleheader against the Bulldogs. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the UMC Baseball Field.
Game One Recap
Lucas Steinbach went 3-4 with three runs batted in (RBI) including a double while Mike Darley added two hits, including a double, and an RBI as UMD won 9-0. Colin Stinogel threw a complete game shutout allowing two hits while striking out nine and walking five.
Game Two Recap
The Bulldogs put up five runs in the first inning on their way to a 10-3 victory. Max Ryan, Orry Engebretsen, Marcus Riewer, Darley and Steinbach each had two hits for UMD. Ryan had three RBI and a solo homerun. Darley and Riewer each added two RBI. Jordan Smith threw seven innings allowing two runs on nine hits while striking out five to get the win.
Jordan Prill (Jr, 1B, Melrose, Minn.) had three hits for U of M, Crookston.
J.C. Crane (Jr, C, Tucson, Ariz.) and
Charlie Pelzer (So, 2B, Little Canada, Minn.) each added two hits.
