Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (Crookston, Minn.)- Winona State University (WSU) exploded for 30 runs over two games sweeping the University of Minnesota, Crookston 13-2 and 17-9 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Baseball action today in Crookston, Minn.

U of M, Crookston falls to 8-21 overall and 3-13 in the NSIC. WSU improves to 16-13 overall and 11-7 in the NSIC. The two teams return to action tomorrow with another doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. at the UMC Baseball Field.

Game One Recap

The Warriors raced out to a 5-0 lead after half an inning and never looked back on their way to a 13-2 victory. Seth McMullen went 4-4 with five runs batted in including a three-run homerun and a two-run homerun. Adam Gemuenden went 2-4 with six RBI including a two-run homerun. Nate Van Roekel was 3-5 with a solo homerun. Kodey Simon went seven innings allowing two runs on nine hits while striking out six and walking one to get the win. Josh Brehmer (So, 2B, Roseville, Minn.), Charlie Pelzer (So, SS, Roseville, Minn.) and J.C. Crane (Jr, C, Tucson, Ariz.) all had two hits for the Golden Eagles.

Game Two Recap

Game two was a wild affair with the Warriors jumping out to a 7-1 lead and eventually holding on for a 17-9 victory that saw 26 runs and 29 hits between the two teams. Jonathan Nelson had three hits and four RBI for WSU. Van Roekel, Gemuenden, Cody Strang, Ben Weeks and Derek Wojcik each added two hits with Wojcik driving in four runs. John Wenker threw five innings allowing eight runs (seven earned) on ten hits while striking out six and walking two to get the win. U of M, Crookston was led by Pelzer, Mitch Allore (Sr, 1B, North Mankato, Minn.), Jordan Prill (Jr, DH, Melrose, Minn.) and J.M. Habeck (Sr, OF, Winnipeg, Man.) who each had two hits. Habeck hit a two-run homerun and Jordan Osmundson (Fr, OF, East Grand Forks, Minn.) hit a solo homerun.
