Box Score 2 (Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Mary (U-Mary) scored 24 runs in two games to sweep the University of Minnesota, Crookston in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Baseball doubleheader today in Crookston, Minn. The Marauders took game one 17-1 and the nightcap 7-3.
U of M, Crookston falls to 8-19 overall and 3-11 in the NSIC. U-Mary improves to 5-25 overall and 4-12 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles return to NSIC action on Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15 when they host Winona State University at 1 p.m. and 12 p.m. respectively.
Game One Recap
U-Mary jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back winning 17-1. Tyler Steffan and Steve Pletan each had two hits and two runs batted in (RBI). Sam Ingemansen added three hits and an RBI while Duane Kiyota added two hits and two RBI. Kyle Lozensky threw five innings of shutout ball allowing six hits while striking out seven to get the win.
Josh Brehmer (So, 2B, Roseville, Minn.),
Jordan Prill (Jr, DH, Melrose, Minn.) and
P.J. Zwach (Sr, 3B, St. Paul, Minn.) each had two hits for U of M, Crookston.
Game Two Recap
Pletan went 3-5 with three RBI for the Marauders as they won 7-3. Steffan and Cory Herback each added two hits. McKeon Meyhoff threw six innings allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking two to get the win. Zwach had three hits for the Golden Eagles. Brehmer,
Charlie Pelzer (So, SS, Roseville, Minn.) and
Mitch Allore (Sr, DH, North Mankato, Minn.) each added two hits.
