(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston will open the 2012 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) season with a four-game series at Upper Iowa University on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25 in Fayette, Iowa. Doubleheaders will begin at 1 p.m. and 12 p.m. respectively.

The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 5-7 after going 3-4 at the Russ Matt and Winning Inning Invitationals in Auburndale, Winter Haven and Clearwater, Fla. on March 9-14. U of M, Crookston is led by Josh Brehmer (So, 2B, Roseville, Minn.) who is hitting .457 (21-46) with eight runs batted in (RBI) and ten runs scored. Matt Korte (So, RHP/3B/OF, St. Cloud, Minn.) is hitting .450 (9-20) with four RBI. Charlie Pelzer (So, SS, Roseville, Minn.) is hitting .395 (15-38) with seven RBI and five runs scored. Mitch Allore (Sr, 1B/DH, North Mankato, Minn.) is hitting .325 (13-40) with six RBI and six runs scored. Jordan Osmundson (Fr, OF/SS, East Grand Forks, Minn.) is hitting .324 (11-34) with five RBI and six runs scored. J.C. Crane (Jr, C, Tucson, Ariz.) is hitting .313 (10-32) with four RBI and eight runs scored. Bobby Arens (Jr, RHP, Kimball, Minn.) is 2-0 with a 2.35 earned run average (ERA). Korte is 2-1 with a 5.06 ERA. He has 12 strikeouts. Kyle Kleven (Fr, RHP, Larimore, N.D.) has a 0.00 ERA over 7.2 relief innings pitched and five appearances.

The Peacocks have an overall record of 4-7. Tyler Adams is hitting .422 (19-45) with two RBI and 15 runs scored. Andrew Kraus is hitting .415 (17-41) with ten RBI and 11 runs scored. Matt Corbitt is hitting .333 (10-30) with ten RBI and five runs scored. Mario Madera is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and six strikeouts. Tyler Beck is 1-0 with a 1.04 ERA and four strikeouts.
