Box Score 2 (Crookston, Minn.)- Jamestown College pounded out 15 runs on 17 hits as they swept the University of Minnesota, Crookston 7-0 and 8-3 in a non-conference doubleheader Sunday night at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.
Game 1 Recap
The Jimmies opened up a 3-0 lead after two innings and added two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to win 7-0. Rudy Strnad and Perry Wilkinson each had two hits. Joe Perez led off the game with a 325 foot homerun to left field and ended up with two runs batted in (RBI). Wes Hardy threw seven innings scattering five hits to get the win. He struck out five and walked three.
U of M, Crookston was led by
Josh Brehmer (So, IF, Roseville, Minn.) who had two hits.
Ben Lazzari (Sr, RHP, Shakopee, Minn.) threw 4.2 innings allowing seven runs on 11 hits to take the loss. He struck out two and walked none.
Game 2 Recap
Jamestown College scored two runs in the first inning and erupted for six runs in the second to defeat the Golden Eagles 8-3. Wilkinson had two hits and an RBI. Ben Watkins threw four innings allowing two runs on five hits to get the win. He struck out two and walked one.
U of M, Crookston was led by
Charlie Pelzer (So, SS, Roseville, Minn.) who had three hits.
Mitch Allore (Sr, 1B, North Mankato, Minn.) added two hits.
Jordan Flick (Jr, RHP, Shakopee, Minn.) threw five innings allowing eight runs (seven earned) on six hits to take the loss. He struck out four and walked three and held the Jimmies scoreless his last three innings.
The Jimmies start the 2012 season at 2-0 while the Golden Eagles fall to 2-2. U of M, Crookston returns to action at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome on Monday, March 5 when they face Mayville State University. First pitch is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.
