Golden Eagle Women Close Out Regular Season Road Games this Weekend at Upper Iowa and Winona State

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team is on the road for the second straight weekend to close out the team's road schedule at Upper Iowa on Friday, February 17 and at Winona State on Saturday, February 18. Game times are set for 6 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Golden Eagles lost to Winona State 71-59 on January 13 before defeating Upper Iowa 75-63 on January 14. Minnesota, Crookston- (9-13, 6-12 NSIC) Megan Eul (5-10, Sr, F, Rosemount, Minn.) led the Golden Eagle Women's Basketball team to a 1-1 record on the weekend. Minnesota, Crookston defeated Bemidji State 77-73 on Friday before fall to Minnesota, Duluth 72-47 on Saturday. Eul averaged 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in the two contests. She grabbed two steals, blocked three shots and dished four assists. Freshman Kenzie Church (5-10, Fr., F, Fairmount, N.D.) had an outstanding weekend as she averaged 10 points/game and earned a career-high 14 points against Bemidji State.
 
Upper Iowa- (2-20, 2-16 NSIC) The Warriors of Winona State dominated the Peacocks in the second half of their rematch in Winona, Minn. on Saturday. The home team turned a twelve-point lead at the half into a 100-60 victory that dropped UIU's record to 2-20 on the season and 2-16 in NSIC play. UIU hit three of their first four free throws in the second half to pull within nine, 47-38, but the visitors would not get any closer. At the midway point of the second half, Winona State led 83-48 fueled by a 36-10 run that spanned nine and a half minutes. The Warriors continued to pull away winning by a final margin of forty points, 100-60. Upper Iowa was led by Jeri Jacobson, who scored 18 points and pulled down 3 rebounds, and Whitney Kieffer, who scored 10 points, grabbed 8 boards and handed out 5 assists.
 
Winona State- (15-9, 10-8 NSIC) Michelle McDonald (C, 6-0, Sr., Johnsburg, Ill. / Johnsburg) scored a career-high 32 points while only missing one shot during the game. She was 13-of-14 from the floor, 5-of-5 from the free throw line and drained her only 3-point attempt. She also recorded her fourth consecutive double-double with 10 rebounds, all of these numbers coming in just 26 minutes of action as Winona State posted a 100-60 victory. McDonald's 32 points are tied for the seventh most in a single game by a Warrior and she was the first player to reach the 30 point mark since the 2009 season. McDonald also passed out four assists and had a steal.
