Box Score (Bemidji, Minn.) The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team traveled to Bemidji State University tonight to take on the Beavers. The Golden Eagles not only overcame a six point halftime deficit to defeat Bemidji, but looked to some newcomers to earn the 77-73 victory.
It was a reversal of fortune tonight as BSU came out and shot 45.5% from the field to take a 41-35 lead. Minnesota, Crookston who has struggled in the second half in their previous games came out and shot 51.7% in the second half while holding the Beavers to 33.3% to outscore Bemidji State 42-32 for the victory.
The Golden Eagles were led by
Megan Eul (5-10, Sr, F, Rosemount, Minn.) who scored a game-high 17 points. She was 6-10 from the field, 5-9 from the free-throw line and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
Jacy Christenson (G, 5-9, So, Shoreview, Minn.) took the opportunity for more playing time due to injuries to blow up the night. She scored a career-high 16 points, dished a game and career-high eight assists and earned a career-high three steals.
Kenzie Church (5-10, Fr., F, Fairmount, N.D.) also had an outstanding night scoring a career-high 14 points. She was 4-8 from the field, 2-6 from long range and 4-6 from the free-throw line.
Bemidji State was led by Morgan Lee who scored 16 points. She was followed by Shannon Thompson who scored 15 points. Thompson and Emily Kaus led the Bemidji defense with eight rebounds apiece.
Minnesota, Crookston climbs to 9-12 on the season and 6-11 in the NSIC. Bemidji State falls to 8-14 overall and 6-11 in conference play. The Golden Eagles return to the court tomorrow to play Minnesota Duluth. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
