• Give it to Burns
Brandon Burns has come in and been the most productive player for the Golden Eagles through seven games so far this season. The junior college transfer from Baton Rouge, La., has led UMC in scoring in five out of the seven games so far this season. Burns has twice tallied 20 or more points including his season-high 21 points versus Crown College. Burns added 20 points on 9-of-17 shooting against University of Minnesota Duluth last weekend.
•Return of Almir
The Golden Eagles are hoping to have Almir Krdzalic back this weekend after the UMC senior point guard missed last weekend due to injury. Krdzalic comes in averaging 9.2 points per game and averaging 3.0 assists per game. Freshman Joseph Moorer filled in for Krdzalic during the weekend. Moorer tallied seven points in two games and notched eight assists.
•Abdou a Big Presence on the Boards
Earlier this season senior forward Abdou Niang set the school record with 22 boards against Finlandia University. Niang has been strong rebounding the basketball through the first seven games this season as he is coming off a 12 rebound performance versus Crown College in late November. Niang comes in averaging 6.9 rebounds per game.
•Improvement of Harrell
Junior guard Ashton Harrell has had an added impact off the bench for the Golden Eagles over the last couple of weeks. Harrell is the only other player to lead the Golden Eagles in scoring this season outside of Brandon Burns. Harrell tallied 16 points versus St. Cloud State University last weekend and had 15 points against Bemidji State. Harrell is averaging 7.0 points per game for UMC.
•Playing at Lysaker
The University of Minnesota, Crooskton is 1-1 at home this season with a win over Presentation College and a loss to Crown College in non-conference play. The Golden Eagles will look to improve their record at home as they face Minot State University and University of Mary this weekend.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston men's basketball team will host Minot State University and University of Mary Friday and Saturday in the conference home opening weekend for the Golden Eagles at Lysaker Gymnasium.
Previewing the Golden Eagles
The UMC men's basketball team is coming off a weekend where they weren't able to find a win column on an NSIC road trip but did put together a strong showing in Friday's game against University of Minnesota Duluth. The Golden Eagles lost both games on the weekend to UMD and No. 14 St. Cloud State. UMC continues to be led on the season by junior forward Brandon Burns, who is averaging 15.9 points per game coming into the weekend. The Golden Eagles are led on the boards by senior forward Abdou Niang, who comes in averaging 6.9 rebounds per game. At the point guard spot, UMC is hopeful to have senior Almir Krdzalic back this weekend after he missed last weekend due to injury.

The Minot State University men's basketball team comes into Friday's game with a 1-5 (0-3 NSIC) record. The Beavers lost both games last weekend, falling to MSU Moorhead and Northern State. Minot State has been led this season by senior forward Josh Johnson's 9.5 points per game while senior guard Anthony Enriquez is averaging 9.3 points per contest.
Previewing the Marauders
The University of Mary men's basketball team comes into the weekend with a 2-5 (1-2 NSIC) record. The Marauders lost both games last weekend, as they fell to Northern State and MSU Moorhead. U-Mary has been led on the season by Alex Dorr, a 6-6 senior forward, who is averaging 15.1 points per game. Dorr is joined by Josh Turner, a 6-3 senior swing man, who comes in averaging 14.6 points per game. Dorr also leads the Marauders on the boards, averaging 10.3 rebounds per game.
