    The Golden Eagles will play Minot State and U-Mary for the second time this season. UMC defeated U-Mary 3-0 and Minot State 3-1 earlier this season on the road. The two teams played on the opening weekend of the season.

Now Or Never
    The next six matches are crucial for the Golden Eagles if they want a chance to make the conference tournament. They are currently three matches behind Northern State University and Upper Iowa University who are tied for eighth in the conference. The Golden Eagles have matches left against U-Mary, Minot State, University of Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud State University, Minnesota State University, Moorhead and Northern State.

Senior Day
    The Golden Eagles will hold Senior Day this weekend for Amanda Swann, the lone senior on the team. Swann has 815 kills coming into the weekend. The native of Rochester Hills, Mich., has been a four-year starter for the Golden Eagles. She is second on the team in kills this season with 192 and is averaging 2.67 kills per set.

The X-Factor
    In UMC's five NSIC wins, Amanda Swann (Sr., OH, Rochester Hills, Mich.) has averaged 12.8 kills per match. In the NSIC losses UMC has suffered this season, Swann has been contained to 9.1 kills per match. Swann had a season-high 17 kills against Sioux Falls two weeks ago, the high by any UMC player this season.

Anderson Seeking His Best NSIC Win Total at UMC
    UMC is one win away from tying the best conference win total his team's have accomplished during his time in Crookston. The Golden Eagles currently have five wins against Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference competition. UMC had six wins twice in Anderson's seven years as the Golden Eagle head coach. They had six NSIC wins last season with victories over Bemidji State, Winona State, Upper Iowa, U-Mary, Minnesota State and St. Cloud State. They also had six victories in conference play during the 2008 campaign.

Chart Climber
    Chelsea Wiesner (Jr., Lib., Rochester, Minn.) has 348 digs this season. She needs 185 digs to move past Jaclyn Slepicka, who holds the school record for digs with 1,471 digs. The Golden Eagles have six matches remaining this season. Wiesner's 348 digs this season is good for third in the conference. Wiesner's play in the back row has helped the Golden Eagles to 84th in the nation for digs per set, as well as seventh in the NSIC.

• The Roaring 20's
    20 has been a key number for UMC this season. The Golden Eagles are 20-6 this season in sets where they reach 20 before their opponents. The only six set losses came in the first match of the season against Northern Michigan University, in a set versus Ferris State University, against Augustana College, against Upper Iowa and Winona State. In addition, UMC has come back and won seven sets in which the opponent reached 20 first, including the first set against MSU Moorhead.

Doubling Up
    Brittany Looker has been one of UMC's strongest players offensively and defensively this season. It has shown in the matches this season as Looker has 10 double-doubles this season. She tallied 14 kills and 12 digs versus No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State. Looker notched 11 kills and 17 digs versus Northern State while adding 12 digs and 21 digs versus MSU Moorhead. Looker currently leads the team in kills and is second in digs.

Previewing the Golden Eagles
   
    The University of Minnesota, Crookston returns home to play a pair of matches at Lysaker Gymnasium after two road matches against ranked opponents last weekend. The Golden Eagles lost to both No. 4 Concordia-St. Paul and No. 13 Minnesota State last weekend after having won two out of the last three prior to last weekend. Friday will serve as Parents' Night for UMC while Saturday will be Senior Day for the lone senior for the Golden Eagles, Amanda Swann (OH, Rochester Hills, Mich.). Swann has been a member of the program for four seasons and has 815 kills in her career. Swann is currently second on the team in kills this season with 192 and is averaging 2.62 kills per set. Brittany Looker (So., Rochester, Minn.) is the team leader in kills with 197 and is averaging 2.81 kills per set. Paige Mitchell (R-Jr., S, West Palm Beach, Fla.) leads the team with 346 assists and is averaging 5.09 assists per set.
   
    Defensively, Chelsea Wiesner (Jr., Lib., Rochester, Minn.) continues to put up a stellar season as she is averaging 4.83 digs per set, which is third in the NSIC this season. Wiesner is quickly approaching Jaclyn Slepicka's school record for digs as she needs 185 digs to surpass Slepicka.


Previewing the Beavers

    The Minot State University Beavers enter the weekend with a 5-19 (1-13 NSIC) mark this season. They are currently in a tie with Bemidji State for 15th place in the conference standings. The Minot State Beavers' lone conference win came against U-Mary Oct. 16. Minot State has been led on the season by outside hitter Mallory Sall, who was named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week earlier this week after tallying 5.36 kills per set in matches against University of Mary, Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls last weekend. Sall is averaging 3.76 kills per set. At setter, the Beavers are paced by Emily Byrne's 8.60 assists per set. Defensively, Minot State has four players averaging over two digs per set led by Ashley Heavenor's 2.87 digs per set. Emily Byrne is second on the team averaging 2.45 digs per set while Sall and Alex Parrone are also averaging over two digs per set.


Previewing the Marauders

    U-Mary comes into the weekend with a 3-18 (3-11 NSIC) record. The Marauders are currently 13th in the conference standings and went 0-3 last week falling to Minot State and No. 1 Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls. U-Mary is currently on a five-match losing streak with their last win coming in a 3-1 victory Oct. 6 in Bismarck, N.D. against St. Cloud State University. U-Mary is paced on the offensive end of the things by the play of Allison Opp, who comes in averaging 2.31 kills per set. In addition, two other players are averaging over two kills per set as Alexis Jacobs is averaging 2.27 kills per set and Lauren Boldt comes in averaging 2.01 kills per set. At setter, Emily Turkowski comes in averaging 8.07 assists per set. Defensively, the Marauders are paced by Valerie Lesu's 4.47 digs per set. On the block, U-Mary is led by Allison Adams' 0.92 blocks per set and Paige Smith's 0.91 blocks per set.
