Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball Heads to Northern State and Mary on Shortened Week

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team travels to Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. and the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D. this Saturday, January 7 and Sunday, January 8 after just three days off. The Golden Eagles will play the Wolves on Saturday at 4 p.m. and return to the court to play the Marauders on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Minnesota, Crookston- (6-5, 3-4 NSIC) Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, Jr., Albertville, Minn.) led the Golden Eagle Women's Basketball team on Monday and Tuesday against Southwest Minnesota State and Minnesota State. Wiese closed out the two games averaging 15.5 points/game. She dished six assists and grabbed two steals while averaging 29.5 minutes/game. Megan Eul (F, 5-10, Sr., Rosemount, Minn.) had a sensational night against Minnesota State as she tied a season-high and led all players with 21 points. She was an outstanding 8-9 from the field and 5-7 from the free-throw line while missing a double-double by one rebound finishing the contest with nine. In two games, Eul average 13 points/game and seven rebounds/game while shooting 64.3% from the field.

Northern State- (9-4, 5-3 NSIC) The Wolves earned an NSIC sweep on Monday and Tuesday over Upper Iowa and Winona State. The team is led by Emily Becken who is averaging 11.4 points/game in 13 games this season. She averages 3.4 rebounds/game and leads the team with 48 assists and is second with 14 steals. Mikayla Barondeau leads NSU defensively with 6.5 rebounds/game. She is second on the team with six blocked shots and leads the team with 23 steals.

Mary- (9-3, 6-2 NSIC) The Marauders are coming off two big wins against Winona State and Upper Iowa. The team is led by Ali Collins who is averaging 11.8 points/game this season. She leads the team in assists with 39 and steals with 31. Linda Murray leads the Mary defense with 20 blocked shots and 86 rebounds good for a 7.2 rebounds/game average.
