(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Volleyball team fell 3-0 to Emporia State University in their final game at the Courtyard by Marriott Invitational hosted by Lynn University today in Boca Raton, Fla. Match scores were 25-17, 25-18 and 25-17.
The Hornets were ranked 18th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason Poll. They were led by Paige Vanderpool who had 10 kills out of 22 total attempts. She also added two serve aces and 13 digs. Briana Kaiser had 10 kills out of a total 26 attempts. She added seven digs and two block assists. Amanda Gerety added 25 set assists.
The Golden Eagles were led Brittany Looker (Fr, OH, Rochester, Minn.) who had 14 kills out of 36 total attempts. She also added three serve aces and eight digs. Kelsey Matykowski (Jr, S, Sun Prairie, Wis.) recorded 29 set assists and 10 digs.
Emporia State University improves to 4-0. The University of Minnesota, Crookston falls to 3-1.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, September 9 and Saturday 10 when they travel to Minnesota State University Moorhead to take part in the Tharaldson Classic.
