(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Volleyball team welcomed future NSIC member University of Sioux Falls to Lysaker Gymnasium this evening in a non-conference match. The Golden Eagles as a team attacked at a season-high .381 (44K-12E-84TA) and recorded just 12 attack errors, the lowest number since September 2 when the team played Post to sweep the Cougars 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-18).
Amanda Swann (OH, 6-0, Jr., Rochester, Mich.) led the Golden Eagles with a sensational .889 (8K-0E-9TA) attack percentage.
Brittany Looker (OH, 5-10, Fr., Rochester, Minn.) led all attackers with 10 kills and just three errors.
Katie Miedtke (MH, 5-10, So., Maple Grove, Minn.) tied a season-high with a .545 attack percentage and finished the match with seven kills. Doing the setting duties was
Kelsey Matykowski (S, 5-7, Jr., Sun Prairie, Wis.) who tallied a match-high 23 assists while
Chelsea Wiesner (DS, 5-8, So., Rochester, Minn.) scored a match-high 13 defensive digs. As a team, the Golden Eagles recorded seven service aces and earned a three-set season-high in kills with 44 for the match.
Sioux Falls was led by Emily Johnson and Samantha Lovell who recorded six kills each. Setter Charlee Nelson earned 19 set assists while Tashalya Person recorded eight digs. The Minnesota, Crookston defense held the Cougars to just a .086 (22K-16E-70TA) attack percentage for the match.
Minnesota, Crookston is 6-8 overall this season and 1-4 in conference play. Sioux Falls drops to 3-15 overall on the season. The Golden Eagles return to the court this Homecoming weekend to play Minnesota State, Mankato on Friday and Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday. Match times are set for 7 p.m. and 5 p.m. respectively.
