(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Baseball team braces for a busy week that sees the Golden Eagles playing seven games. U of M, Crookston will finally take the field at home when they play host to Minnesota State University on Tuesday, April 26. The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) doubleheader begins at 12 p.m. The Golden Eagles travel to Grand Forks, N.D. on Wednesday, April 27 to face the University of North Dakota in a single nine-inning game. The non-conference contest begins at 5:30 p.m. at Kraft Field. They return to home NSIC action on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 when they host St. Cloud State University. Doubleheaders begin at 1:30 p.m. and 12 p.m. respectively.
U of M, Crookston holds an overall record of 0-26 and NSIC record of 0-18. The Golden Eagles dropped an NSIC doubleheader at Bemidji State University (19-1 & 5-2) on Wednesday but were rained out of four games at Southwest Minnesota State University this past weekend.
Josh Brehmer (Fr, IF, Roseville, Minn.) is hitting .371 (13-35). Chris Ciatti (Jr, C, Livonia, Mich.) is hitting .295 (23-78) with eight runs batted in (RBI). Ryan Kitzhaber (Fr, 1B, Withee, Wis.) is hitting .263 (21-80) with 12 RBI. Nick Kelzer (Fr, RHP, Delano, Minn.) has an 8.59 earned run average (ERA) with 24 strikeouts.
The University of Minnesota, Crookston is an NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
