(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Baseball team travels to Winter Haven, Fla. this week to take part in the Russ Matt Invitational. The Golden Eagles will play six games from March 12-16.

U of M, Crookston faces Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) foe Concordia University, St. Paul in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday, March 12 at 2 p.m. The Golden Eagles follow up with four single nine-inning games. U of M, Crookston will face the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 12 p.m. on March 13, Kentucky Wesleyan College on March 14 at 11:30 a.m., NSIC foe the University of Minnesota Duluth (non-conference) on March 15 at 2 p.m. and Wayne State University (Mich.) on March 16 at 11:30 a.m. All game times are Central Standard Time.

The Golden Eagles are 0-2 after dropping a pair of nine-inning, non-conference games to St. Cloud State University in Jacksonville, Ill. this past weekend. The Huskies defeated U of M, Crookston 9-1 and 23-1.

Despite the losses, Golden Eagle Head Coach Chris Vito was able to take positives away from the weekend. “It was good for our team to actually get out and play,” says Coach Vito. “We were able to get everyone game action against one of the top teams in our conference. They were able to see the speed of the game and also the weather conditions we will battle against. The scores did not turn out like we would have liked but it was a good learning experience that will hopefully pay dividends as we play against tough completion down in Florida.”

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is an NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
