(Crookston, Minn.)- St. Cloud State University took advantage of seven University of Minnesota, Crookston errors and went on to defeat the Golden Eagles 23-1 in a non-conference baseball game Saturday in Jacksonville, Ill.
Joe Peters led the Huskies going 4-6 with three runs batted in (RBI) and four runs scored. Brian Hansen went 3-6 with four RBI. Garrett Fischer and Steve Rindlaub each added three hits. Fischer knocked in two runs while Rindlaub drove in three. Shawn Riesgraf threw four innings allowing no runs on one hit and striking out four to pick up his second win of the season.
Chris Ciatti (Jr, C/1B, Livonia, Mich.) had both of U of M, Crookston's hits. Alan Frank (Fr, LHP, St. Michael, Minn.) threw four innings allowing five runs (three earned) on nine hits to take the loss. Fifteen of St. Cloud State's 23 runs were unearned.
The Huskies improve to 4-1 on the season. The Golden Eagles fall to 0-2.
U of M, Crookston returns to action March 11-16 when they travel to Winter Haven, Fla. to take part in the Russ Matt Invitational. The Golden Eagles will play six games there.
The University of Minnesota, Crookston is an NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
