#7 Wayne State Ends Golden Eagle Playoff Run

(Wayne, Neb.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team traveled to Wayne, Neb. tonight for the first round of the NSIC/Sanford Health Women's Basketball Tournament. The Golden Eagles led by as many as five in the first half but the #7 ranked Wildcats played a solid game shooting 50% from the field to take the 87-56 victory.
 
The Golden Eagles were led by Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, Sr., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) who scored a team-high 12 points and dished a game-high seven assists. Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, So., Albertville, Minn.) followed Zelinsky with 11 points, a team-high seven rebounds and tallied three steals.
 
Wayne State was led by Ashley Arlen's 22 points. She was 9-16 from the field and grabbed 10 rebounds. Mara Hjelle added 18 points while Alyssa Fischbach added 16 points and 10 boards for the team's second double-double. The Wildcat offense scored 46 points in the paint, 20 points off turnovers and 14 second chance points.
 
Minnesota, Crookston moves to 13-14 overall. Wayne State advances to 25-2 overall and will advance to the semifinals of the NSIC/Sanford Health Women's Basketball Tournament.
