(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team travels to MSU Moorhead this Saturday, December 10 to take on the Dragons in an NSIC contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse and will be the team's only contest of the weekend.
Minnesota, Crookston- (4-2, 1-1 NSIC) The Golden Eagle Women's Basketball team went 1-1 to open the NSIC season. UMC fell in overtime on a last second shot to Minnesota Duluth but rebounded on Saturday to defeat Bemidji State. Minnesota, Crookston was led on the weekend by
Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, Jr., Albertville Minn.) who led all players in both games with 21 and 19 points respectively for a 20.0 points/game average. She shot 50% (16-32) from the field and 77.8% (7-9) from the charity stripe. She led the Golden Eagles with a solid 14 assists and grabbed two steals and six rebounds on the defensive end of the court. For her efforts, Wiese was named NSIC Player of the Week. Freshman Ashley Martell (G, 5-8, Fr., Somerset, Wis.) averaged 15 points/game and knocked down a career-high five three-pointers against BSU.
MSU Moorhead- (3-2, 1-1 NSIC) Megan Strese took on a leading role for the Dragons during the week of November 28. Strese first scored 14 points against Bemidji State on Friday night. The Evansville native pulled down eight rebounds, six offensive, blocked one shot and recorded one assist in 23 minutes played. The following night against Minnesota, Duluth, Strese scored in double figures again with 10. The sophomore rebounded two shots, earned two assists and one steal in 30 minutes played.
