Box Score (Wayne, Neb.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Basketball team traveled to Wayne, Neb. today to take on the No. 9 ranked Wayne State Wildcats. WSC opened the first half shooting a staggering 60.7% (17-28) while the Golden Eagles struggled at 19.4% (6-31). After the first 20 minutes, Wayne State held a 38-16 lead and used the first half output to take a 66-37 victory.<br />

The Golden Eagles were led by
Megan Eul (F, 5-10, Sr., Rosemount, Minn.) and
Lauren Kessler (C, 6-1, Jr., Albertville, Minn.) who scored eight points each with Kessler grabbing two steals as well.
Laurie Tyson (C, 6-1, Jr., Rosemount, Minn.) and Carli Bunning (F, 6-0, Jr., Boone, Iowa) led UMC defensively with seven rebounds apiece.<br />

Wayne State was led by Ashley Arlen who scored a game-high 19 points. She was 6-10 from the field and 6-9 from the free-throw line and led Wayne State with eight rebounds. Jennifer Kalbfell followed Arlen with 10 points. The Wildcats scored 38 points in the paint to UMC’s 10 and scored 18 points off of Golden Eagle turnovers. This marked Wayne State’s 35th consecutive win at home.<br />

Minnesota, Crookston moves to 6-3 on the season and 3-12 in conference play. Wayne State advances to 11-1 overall and 5-1 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles return to the court on Monday, January 2 and Tuesday, January 3 to resume conference play. UMC hosts Southwest Minnesota State on Monday and Minnesota State on Tuesday. Game times are scheduled for 6 p.m. on both nights.<br />
