Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball Travels to Augustana and #4 Wayne State to Close Out 2011

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team closes out the 2011 portion of the season this Friday and Saturday as they travel to Augustana College and Wayne State College. The Golden Eagles take on the Vikings on Friday, December 17 at 4 p.m. The team returns to the court on Saturday, December 18 to play the Wildcats at 2 p.m.
 
Minnesota, Crookston- (5-2, 2-1 NSIC) Minnesota, Crookston traveled to MSU Moorhead on Saturday afternoon for UMC's only contest of the weekend. The Golden Eagles found themselves down by three points at the break but Minnesota, Crookston took control of the contest in the second half, outscoring MSU Moorhead by 11 points to take the 67-59 NSIC victory. Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, Jr., Albertville Minn.) led the Golden Eagles and tied a game-high with 21 points. She was 6-14 from the field, 2-4 from three-point range and 7-10 from the free-throw line. Wiese dished two assists and grabbed two steals in 35 minutes of play. Ebony Livingston (G, 5-9, Fr., Minneapolis, Minn.) played an outstanding game adding 13 points and two steals for UMC. Minnesota, Crookston returns home on January 2 and 3 to play Southwest Minnesota State and Minnesota State- Mankato. Game times for both nights are scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
Augustana- (6-2, 3-1 NSIC) Faith Tinklenberg (G, 5-11, Jr., Pipestone, Minn./Pipestone Area HS) posted her first double-double of the season to help Augustana cruise to a 93-65 victory over U-Mary last Friday. She collected a career-high 12 rebounds and was one of five Vikings in double-figure scoring with 13 points in their win over the Marauders. The following evening, Tinklenberg paced the Vikings in scoring with 15 points against Northern State. For the weekend, Tinklenberg averaged 14 points per game and made 7 of 10 from 3-point range. Her other totals include 15 rebounds, three steals, one block and one assist.
 
#4 Wayne State- (9-1, 3-1 NSIC) Ashley Arlen, a 6-2 senior forward from Cascade, Iowa, averaged 20.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game as the Wildcats split games at Northern State and Mary. Arlen poured in a game-high 27 points, 20 coming in the first half, to lead #4 WSC in a 60-38 win at Northern State. Arlen was 10 of 15 from the field, 4 of 5 from the three point line and 3 of 4 at the charity stripe. She also had three blocks and three steals in the win. On Saturday, Arlen recorded a team-high 14 points with nine rebounds and five blocks as the Wildcats were upset at Mary 72-64. For the weekend, Arlen was 12 of 25 from the field (48%) and 13 of 19 at the free throw stripe (68%).
