Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball Finishes Strong in 67-59 Victory over Dragons

Box Score (Moorhead, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team traveled to MSU Moorhead on Saturday afternoon for the UMC's only contest of the weekend. The Golden Eagles found themselves down by three points at the break but Minnesota, Crookston took control of the contest in the second half, outscoring MSU Moorhead by 11 points to take the 67-59 NSIC victory.

Minnesota, Crookston opened the first half giving up 10 points on turnovers. The second half comeback was sparked by UMC who scored nine points off MSUM turnovers and only gave up two points off of turnovers through the final 20 minutes en route to the victory. Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, Jr., Albertville Minn.) led the Golden Eagles and tied a game-high with 21 points. She was 6-14 from the field, 2-4 from three-point range and 7-10 from the free-throw line. Freshman Ebony Livingston (G, 5-9, Fr., Minneapolis, Minn.) played an outstanding game adding 13 points and two steals. Carly Rothstein (F, 5-10, So., St. Michael, Minn.) followed Livingston with 12 points all on three-pointers. Laurie Tyson (C, 6-1, Jr., Rosemount, Minn.) led UMC with nine rebounds, six points, two blocks and three steals.

MSU Moorhead was led by Angie Jetvig who scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. She was followed by Marisa Yernatich who scored 11 points.

Minnesota, Crookston is 5-2 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. MSU Moorhead falls to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles return to the court on December 17 and 18 when they travel to Augustana and Wayne State. Game times are scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
