Golden Eagles Close Out 2011 Radisson Roseville Classic with 82-67 Victory

Box Score (St. Paul, Minn.)- The Golden Eagle Women's Basketball team traveled closed out the 2011 Radisson Roseville Classic in St. Paul this afternoon against Mount Mercy University. Minnesota, Crookston scored 41 points in both halves and used 22 points off of turnovers to take the 82-67 non-conference victory. Following the completion of the tournament, UMC's Megan Eul (F, 5-10, Sr., Rosemount, Minn.) was named to the all-tournament team.
 
The Golden Eagles went down by three points early in the game but overcame the deficit quickly to take a 13 point lead into the half. UMC held off a Mount Mercy run in the second half and led by as many as 19 points in the win. Minnesota, Crookston's bench continues to be the sixth player on the court pouring in 24 points today. Freshmen Ebony Livingston (G, 5-9, Fr., Minneapolis, Minn.) and Ashley Martell (G, 5-8, Fr., Somerset, Wis.) both scored career-highs and led UMC with 14 points each. Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, Jr., Albertville, Minn.) and Eul followed Livingston and Martell with 13 points each. Eul also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, dished three assists and tied a game-high with three steals. The Golden Eagle defense grabbed 12 offensive boards, forced nine steals and blocked six shots in the game.
 
Mount Mercy was led by Amanda Frost who scored a game-high 21 points. She was followed by Emily Greiner who scored 19 points. Brooke Quigley and Micha Mims led Mount Mercy with seven rebounds each. Ashley Koch led all players with four blocked shots.
 
Minnesota, Crookston is 3-1 on the season. Mount Mercy falls to 5-4 on the season. The NSIC season-opener is scheduled for Friday, December 2 at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. The Golden Eagles will host the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth at 6 p.m. The team returns to the court on Saturday, December 3 to take on Bemidji State. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium.
