Minnesota, Crookston Moves to 2-0 with 76-60 Victory Over Valley City State

Box Score (Valley City, N.D.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team moved to 2-0 this season after tonight's 76-60 victory over the Vikings of Valley City State University. The Golden Eagles were up by just two points 33-31 after the first 20 minutes but dominated the second session 43-29 to earn the 76-60 non-conference victory.

The Golden Eagles were led by Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, Jr., Albertville, Minn.) who matched her season-high with another 19 point performance. Wiese was 6-15 from the field, 3-4 from long range and 4-6 from the free-throw line. She added a team-high three assists and a game-high five steals in 35 minutes of play. Megan Eul (F, 5-10, Sr., Rosemount, Minn.) and Carli Bunning (F, 6-0, Jr., Boone, Iowa) followed Wiese with 11 points each. Eul added a game-high seven rebounds while Bunning wend a perfect 4-4 from the field. Aiding in the victory was Minnesota, Crookston's bench who poured in 31 points.

Valley City was led by Coutney Titus and Katelyn Ralston who scored 11 points each. Titus grabbed four steals while Ralston was 5-6 from the free-throw line. Alyssa Hummel led the Vikings with five rebounds while Sadiqah Jihad led VCSU with four assists. VCSU committed 33 fouls that sent the Golden Eagles to the line 43 times in the game.

Minnesota, Crookston is 2-0 on the season. The Golden Eagles travel to the the 2011 Radisson Roseville Classic in St. Paul. UMC will play Michigan Tech on Friday at 2 p.m. and Mount Mercy College on Saturday at 2 p.m. The NSIC season-opener is scheduled for Friday, December 2 at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. The Golden Eagles will host the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth at 6 p.m.
